First Prompt--Who are you?

I would really like to get to know you this semester. I don't just want to know about your hobbies and where you're from, but I'd like to know what excites you, what you're interested in and what you truly enjoy doing. Who are you? Why are you here? Please tell me about yourself.
In our class, we will do weekly blogs. We will focus on grammar and writing structure in the classroom, but blogs will help us concentrate on the content.

Every other Monday I will post a new prompt on our blog site for you to respond to. http://expressspring2013.blogspot.com

Each response should answer the prompt and be at least 2-3 paragraphs in length.

During the weeks when there is no new prompt, you will comment on two of your classmates' responses. Each comment should be 3-4 sentences in length. By the end of the semester, you should have commented on everyone's blog at least one time.

All responses and comments are due every Friday by 1 p.m. Late assignments will not be taken.

Each assignment is worth 10 points.

Have fun, be creative and express yourself!

On your mark, get set, write!

Example Blog
Blog Prompt:
Tell me about yourself! Who are you? What are your hobbies and interests? What would you like to share about yourself?
Example Response:
My name is Danielle Majam-Finch and I have been a teacher at the ALP for three years. I was born and raised in California. I love this state and am proud to be a California girl.
I am married and have two children. My son is eight and my daughter is four. I am a busy soccer and softball mom who spends the majority of my free time doing activities with my kids. It's a lot of fun!
I enjoy a variety of things. I love to read, cook, swim and go out with friends to tea. If I could do anything in the world, it would be to travel. Travelling is what I enjoy most doing. I love waking up in a new place and venturing out to try new food, experience new cultures and try a new language. My travels have taken me to many countries in Asia and Europe. I hope someday to visit the Middle East, South America and Australia. It's a dream of mine to visit every country my students have come from.

Welcome to Our Class Blog!

Welcome to the Spring 2013 Semester! I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you better through our class blog, as well as share a bit about myself. I hope that this blog will be a useful tool for you to write freely and to share what's on your mind. This blog is our class's way of getting to know each other beyond the classroom environment.

Let's make this a safe place to share our thoughts and opinions. Write on!
